This workshop will explore the impact of domestic violence (DV) on children and teens. We will examine the emotional, behavioral, and psychological effects of domestic violence in the lives of young people, as well as how youth often cope or deal with this trauma. Furthermore, we will look at what it means to be a youth advocate, critically investigating adult privilege (adultism) in particular.

This presentation will help participants understand the root causes of sexual violence, its prevalence, its impact on survivors, and the dynamics that make sexual violence a stigmatizing crime.
The presenter will discuss how perpetrators of sexual violence chose victims based on perceived or created vulnerability and lack of credibility. Oppressed communities are often perceived as more vulnerable, and have less perceived credibility than privileged classes of people and therefore are often targeted by perpetrators.
