Join Friends of Trees as we kick off our 2015 - 2016 planting season with the first of two plantings in partnership with the City of Hillsboro and Clean Water Services at Jackson Bottom Wetlands preserve. This planting is part of the Tree For All campaign which has planted over three million native plants in the Tualatin River Watershed in the past decade! Clean Water Services, Friends of Trees, thousands of volunteers, other non-profits, city partners, and private landowners will be working together this season to continue the success of this program. This site is located at the Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve (map). Please arrive around 8:45am to be registered and assigned to a crew. There will be an approximately 10 minute walk from the parking lot to the planting area. The event will start promptly at 9:00am. We have been removing English Ivy from an area of Forest Park and it is now ready for planting! Our Forest Park sites are small and located in sensitive habitat, so we need to limit how many people can participate. Crew Leaders are trained volunteers who are crucial to plant trees properly and lead groups of volunteers at more than 80 different planting events this planting season. Friends of Trees is aiming to plant tens of thousands of native trees and shrubs at more than 40 public planting events in the Green Space Program. Help us make those goals a reality and register to become a crew leader with us! The training is free (and includes lunch and a t-shirt!) but registration is required. During this planting volunteers will plant islands of Oregon white oak and associated shrubs across the area known as the Upper Meadow.
