Registration is OPEN for the Winter 2014 cohort! “How to Be an Agent of Change” – a no-cost, six-session sustainable leadership course Learn a proven framework for creating Earth-conscious change within your community and make a visible impact in the movement to forge a sustainable local culture. Reserve your spot now:Six Thursdays: February 20, 27, March 6, 13, 20, break, April 17 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. in Downtown Portland There is no charge for the class, but advance registration is required. For information or to reserve your space, contact Emily Klavins at 503-227-2315 or [email protected]. Join the growing network of over 900 Portlanders who have completed the How to Be an Agent of Change course, which was developed by veteran change agents Jeanne and Dick Roy.* This sustainable leadership training imparts a proven framework for advancing sustainability or ecological awareness in a chosen “circle of influence” (workplace, neighborhood, school, etc.). Recent project examples: a parent forming a nature club at his child’s school; a NE resident starting a kitchen share space in her neighborhood; an employee organizing a non-curbside recycling system at her office; a nonprofit volunteer making the annual fundraising event zero waste. During the course, you select your circle and vision for change, and the facilitators give you tested tools and strategies to be successful. Participants collaborate and consult with one another during steps of early implementation. In addition to creating a complete plan for action, core skills gained include how to: 1) be more effective in recruiting others to your cause, 2) set and reach your goals, and 3) maintain project momentum. After completing the class, trained “Agents” become part of the Agent of Change Network, which offers ongoing project support through events, additional trainings, and networking opportunities, all at no cost. - - - - - - - - *Jeanne and Dick Roy, Co-Directors of the Center for Earth Leadership, are co-founders of the Center, the Northwest Earth Institute, and the Oregon Natural Step Network, three Portland-based nonprofits promoting sustainable practices and ecological awareness.

*A three-hour workshop to elevate hope among those who seek to create a sustainable culture* **Presented by Jeanne and Dick Roy** Living in a society where “bad news” seems so prevalent, is authentic hope possible? In this workshop, hope is explored as an intentional act or practice. Through presentations and small-group discussions, we will cover topics such as the meaning of hope and its relationship to optimism (and pessimism), guiding principles for the practice of hope, specific practices that elevate hope in our daily lives, and ways to remain aligned with hope over time. **There is no charge for this workshop, but advance registration is required.** **To reserve your space, contact Monica Moore: 503-227-2315 or [email protected].** *This workshop is sponsored by the Center for Earth Leadership, a nonprofit co-founded by the Roys that trains and motivates citizens to assume a leadership role in forging a sustainable culture.*

Be an Agent of Change: Registration open for Agent of Change Sustainable Leadership Training starting on February 23! DATES: Five Mondays - February 23, March 2, 9, 16, and April 13 TIME: 6:00 to 7:45 p.m. LOCATION: Downtown Portland HOW TO REGISTER: There is no charge for the class, but advance registration is required. For information or to reserve your space, contact Erica DeJong at 503-227-2315 or [email protected]. Learn more about the Center: www.earthleaders.org. DESCRIPTION: Join the growing network of over 950 Portlanders who have completed the How to Be an Agent of Change training, which was developed by veteran change agents Jeanne and Dick Roy.* This sustainable leadership training imparts a proven framework for advancing sustainability or ecological awareness in a chosen “circle of influence” (workplace, neighborhood, school, etc.). During the training, you select a circle of influence and develop a vision to make your circle more sustainable. The facilitators give you tested tools and strategies to develop a project and take first steps to realize your vision. Participants collaborate and consult with one another throughout the process. Some project examples include: starting a neighborhood kitchen equipment and tool library, organizing a non-curbside recycling system at work, or forming a nature club at your child’s elementary school. After completion, trained Agents become part of the Agent of Change Network, which offers ongoing project support through events, additional trainings, and networking opportunities, all at no cost. *Jeanne and Dick Roy, Co-Directors of the Center for Earth Leadership, are co-founders of the Center, the Northwest Earth Institute, and the Oregon Natural Step Network, three Portland-based nonprofits promoting sustainable practices and ecological awareness.
